Surprise!

Maddie turns 5 on Wednesday and we decided to surprise her today with a birthday party! We were feeling rather guilty because we are so far from family and Maddie hasn't started school yet so she doesn't have a ton of friends her age so we decided to throw a mini surprise party for our little family and her best friend and his family. A tiny party but she was thrilled!

My wonderful husband whisked Maddie away this morning for a Maddie & Daddy date with breakfast at Chick-Fil-A, a Build and Grow event at Lowe's and a bit of shopping. Basically he provided me with enough time to transform our kitchen into party central! I spent all week working on decorations after Maddie went to bed every night and I was super crazy and turned my oven on last night to whip up some extra special rainbow cupcakes. Yeah I am nuts. Central AC makes no difference when its 110 degrees outside and I have the oven on. I may have been frosting cupcakes in a bra last night! haha

Happy Birthday Maddie! 5 is a big one - a whole hand! Will she start Kindergarten in the fall?

Aw, Happy Birthday Maddie! It's amazing that she's old enough to appreciate a surprise party. And I'm sad we weren't there to celebrate this year!
