Happy 3rd Trimester To Me!

Sorry about the glare and flash, my bad! Oops!
Only 3 more months of baby cooking left. Hoping Zoey Belle makes her arrival mid-June just like big sister did. Two weeks early works for me!

Baby Update: Wednesday's ultrasound confirmed Zoey is right on track for my due date. She is weighing in at 2lbs 7oz, which is just under the 50th percentile for her weight. Also where Maddie has always been. The tech also mentioned she has giant feet! Also like her sister!

Happy Mommy

I was grumpy and tired mommy because of this.....

I suppose with only 3 months left to go it was about time baby girl started to grow and grow and boy did it hurt and she is a violent kicker and she is awake all night long. None of these things lead to a good night's sleep hence the grumpy and tired mommy.

My super awesome husband was super awesome though and picked up some of these for me last night and now I am a happy mommy. A half of one of these magical blue pills and I can sleep but not like the dead and fear peeing the bed but good enough for a 6 month pregnant woman. I am thinking a few more nights of sleeping like last night and I will feel human again!

She Sews Again!

I have been eager for a chance to sew something up for baby girl Zoey and after I saw this super easy tutorial at Fussy Monkey Business I knew I had a project to do. I didn't actually follow the tutorial but I did make my own style burp clothes with some $4 towels from Target.

I raided my fabric stash and set to work making some adorable one of a kind burp cloths.

Instead of trying something new and buying materials I didn't have on hand I skipped the bias tape and stitched the cloths together good side facing in, flipped them inside out and finished them with a finishing stitch around the edges to give them a nice clean look.

Within 30 minutes (not counting the bubble bath or trip to the playground in between!) I had eight handmade burp cloths with 4 different adorable fabrics.

The fabric side is super cute and the towel side is super absorbent- everything one needs in a burp cloth!

I have such love for this fluffy stack!

Tied up with a cute ribbon these would make an adorable addition to a baby shower gift too!

Soooo......

I had a fetal echo scheduled this afternoon to make sure the baby's heart is fine with the gestational diabetes (it is!) and it didn't even occur to me until the last minute that I might have chance to find out if we are having a boy or girl. Since hubby and Maddie were not with me I didn't want to find out without them so I had the doctor write it down on a slip of paper and stick it in an envelope for us and.........

Babydate - As in the post where I give the lowdown and complain a bit

I have to say that despite my first few weeks of constant nausea this pregnancy really is no different than my last. Unfortunately my previous history of gestational diabetes meant testing early (and failing) and back to the good ole finger pricking 4 times a day. Yikes! I suppose it sounds worse than it is because it really isn't a big deal (at least not for me). It feels like a big time waster since I never have elevated numbers (despite not altering my diet in the least) which is exactly how it was last time.

Any how, besides bruised and sore fingertips everything seems to be A-okay. Over the weekend there was definite confirmation that there is a baby up in there. A felt the wee one moving and grooving all day on Sunday which was so nice. Of course I say that now and come a few more weeks (?) months (?) I will be complaining about the constant assault on my uterus and other innards.

I am really hoping that I will actually get a baby bump this time which never happened with Maddie. She situated herself with her tiny feet shoved up under my ribs and her head about as for down as possible so all I had was a lump on my side from her rear end- certainly not the typical baby belly!

So far so good. The second trimester seems to be going along lovely at the moment and it's crazy to think that in another week and a half I will hit the halfway mark! The big ultrasound is scheduled for the end of the month so stay tuned for the big Boy Girl reveal!

Baby Questioning: Part 2

Did you miss Part 1 when I told my dear daughter that I didn't know how the baby is going to get out? I was prepared this time! A few days ago Maddie once again asked the all important question.

Maddie: Where does the baby come out?
Me: Mommy's have special places called birth canals and when the baby is big enough mommy will push the baby out.
Maddie: Oh. Well how do you push?
Me: Kind of like going to the bathroom.
Maddie: How long are you going to be in the hospital?
Me: A day or two.
Maddie: Can I visit?
Me: Of course.
Maddie: For how long?
Me: As long as you want.
Maddie: Okay. I would like to visit for 7 minutes.

Jeez. If I knew the conversations was going to be that easy I could saved myself the embarrassment of being a big ole dummy last time! Hopefully this answer suffices. We shall see!

Baby Questioning: Part 1

I knew this was going to come eventually and I have been trying to prepare myself but I was caught off guard and failed. Miserably.

Maddie: Hey mommy how does the baby get out of your belly?
Me: uhh umm. Well the doctor takes the baby out.
Maddie: But HOW does the baby get out?
Me: Well when the baby gets big enough and mommy's belly is big enough the doctor says lets get that baby out and then we have a baby.
Maddie: But HOW does the baby get out?
Me: Umm. Well. I don't know.

Yeah I believe that is a big ole mom FAIL. I told my poor innocent child that her clueless mommy has no idea how the baby is going to get out. Crap.

Thankfully she was rather distracted with Playhousedisney.com and her Chick-Fil-A milkshake enough to not continue with her line of questioning. Clearly this mommy needs to be Googling how on earth to explain to your very curious 4 year old daughter the who, what, where, when and how of baby making. YIKES!

Hello Baby!

After spending the ENTIRE day at the OBGYN I am thrilled to say we have one very wiggly baby! My due date is July 8th but the baby is measuring a week older which puts my due date somewhere between July 1st and 8th.

Not in the least bit Wordless Wednesday

That's right we are due an addition to the family around July 2011!

If you follow me on Twitter you probably had an idea what with all my constant complaining! Can I just state for the record I have never felt so utterly horrible. I am tired. I am achy. I have been nauseous since the day the wee one found a cozy spot in my uterus. Frankly this has been a complete 180 from my pregnancy with Maddie and I was totally not prepared! I am keeping my hopes high that this passes soon but considering actual morning sickness doesn't generally start until 10 weeks I am feeling a bit deflated at the moment. I hope to get back to our regular crafty routine soon but for now Maddie and I are laying low with movies and cuddle time.
