The only thing the tree was seriously lacking was any type of topper so in true crafty fashion I raided the craft cabinet for supplies. With a jar of beads and four glittery pipecleaners Madison and I got down to business.
I twisted three of the pipecleaners together to make a six pointed snowflake/star and then bent the last cleaner in half and twisted it around the star leaving the ends pointing to the back to affix it to the tree later.
We threaded ten beads on each arm of the snowflake.
Then bent the the arm back and added ten more beads.
After all of the arms had a total of twenty beads we twisted the last little bit of pipcleaner to the extra one on the back to hold it all together.
There should now be two bare arms sticking straight in back and these are the two I used to twist around the tree.
This would be a bit too small for a regular size tree topper so you can always use it as an ornament instead!

I LOVE this idea. How cute to have a tree to showcase her ornaments. Very special!
Look ay you! You didn't even have to go buy supplies to make such a cool tree topper! I would have had to hit Joann's or Michael's and spent $60 (not all for the topper, but I have no restraint!). B gets her own tree too. We go to a tree farm and she gets to pick it out and MIke cuts it down. LAst year was the first time and she was so proud of her tree. WE did some glitter ornaments last year. A mess! WE had glitter everywhere, even after we put them on the tree.
So cute!! We made something similar last week with beads and pipe cleaners but ours is a bit more "rustic" or "crazy" looking! ; ) LOL!!
Love this, I think the girls will have fun making these too! We'll add it to our project list -- thanks for sharing.
Fabulous idea!!!! Love it.
I love this pretty tree topper, and you just "happened" to have very pretty beads for it :) What a great idea to have a special mini tree for self-made ornaments.
What a great idea!!! It looks so cute :0)
