Maddie picked out her new mermaid shirt to wear today just for our special lunch theme.
I found this great mermaid project at The Best Kids Book Site.
Maddie and I had a great time making a new friend this morning! You can find the mermaid pattern on the site for the craft.
On to lunch! I was hoping to serve lunch poolside on the back patio but little miss Mad is awfully grumpy today and will be headed upstairs for a nap after lunch so I didn't want to tempt her with the pool just yet!
Top: dolphin shaped honey dew melon, goldfish crackers, blue jell-o with jelly fish
Bottom: sea shell pasta salad, octopus hot dog, 'sea' cucumbers

you did a fantastic job! I am blown away!! I don't know what is more my fave, the dolphins or the octopus!
btw, what do you use to write with?
Michelle- I use Gourmet Food Writers by AmeriColor. I have tried the ones by Wilton but don't care for them much. The AmeriColor ones are great though! You can use them on pretty much any food product as long as it is firm enough to write on. I love that the package comes with a pretty big color selection too!
I really love the octopus! My son saw it and wanted one. Maybe next time when I get some hot dogs. Too Cute!
We are doing the octodogs for lunch too! The boys love them & ask for them all of the time. I usually use mustard for the face...I am going to have to get some of the markers. So cute! I love the dolphin shaped honeydew melon. TOO FUN!
Love the sweet face on the octodog. :) And the honeydew dolphin was pretty darned cute too. Great tin!

Great job! I love the mermaid craft :-)
Great tin! I did the hot dog octapus too...but since I was using a mini tin I cut it in half to do two and they didn't come out as cute as the single one. Oh well, my son thought it was too cool anyway! The mermaid craft is cute too :)
WOW, I was feeling pretty pleased with my tin until I started checking out all the other links...
That octopus is awesome.

How darling ... I love the art project, too! What a fun day for you all!
I made those octopus hotdogs for my son's under the sea birthday party last year and they were a big hit both with children and adults... of course, I found them hard to eat :)
Great tin!
I hope its ok I'm including a link to this post for Totally Tots Once Upon a book Ocean Month Week 1~ thanks it will go up on June 4th!
