Rainy Day Hopscotch

Over the weekend I noticed we were due for a week of rain -yuck- which meant our weekly trip to the zoo would not be happening and we would most likely be stuck in the house all week. Pretty much the perfect storm for driving this mommy batty. I knew that I would have to find a way to let Maddie get a little energy out without knocking down things and running into walls- yeah she does that sort of thing.

Armed with a roll of blue painters tape I set to work. I quickly stitched up a tiny bean bag (technically rice) out of scrap fabric and then began laying out our hopscotch pattern.

I totally lucked out with our vinyl (ewwy) tiles in the living room- squares! No measuring required!

It took me about 10 minutes to complete the squares and attempt to make numbers out of tape. No easy task there.

Of course it didn't take long for Maddie to get in on the action. Now she has a way to work on her counting and get her wiggles out during our rainy week.

Truthfully we will probably have this hopscotch taped to our floor for months.... whatevs.
