Ahhh the goal is to be back. Yes back to the blog, back to crafting, back to our regularly scheduled program! We started simple today with a cute and relatively mess free 2011 sun catcher.
To start I printed a large 2011 in Word with WordArt in Franklin Gothic Demi font- basically big, lots of room to work with and easy to cut out!
With my handy dandy X-Acto knife and ruler I set to work cutting out the numbers. Scissors were necessary for the final details but still quick and easy on my part. I printed on a heavier piece of cardstock which worked well with the X-Acto knife, if you go the construction paper route I would suggest just using scissors.
Next up was giving Maddie some sheets of contact paper with glitter and sparkly party hat sequins! Of course this part took meticulous placement on her part. Haha!
Surprisingly the glitter didn't end up all over the place!
After Maddie finished we topped it off with a second piece of contact paper to seal all the glittery bits inside- remember I said mess free! With a bit of tape we secured the contact paper to the 2011 cutout cardstock and ....
Voila!
Glittery, simple and perfect for a New Years Eve morning craft!
Hope you all have a wonderful and safe New Years!
See you in 2011!

LOVE it! We're totally going to do this today now :)
That is SO cute!! Happy New Year!
I love this. We just painted/traced the numbers on paper but I think we'll have to try this decoration too. I love that this year contains numbers 0-2 because my son really only knows up to the number 3. ;)
What a cool idea! This is definitely going in my "crafts to do" file. :)
Just wanted to tell you how much we love this idea! We did it last January...and then repeated it again for 2012. We are making it our annual new year's tradition where the kids create the suncatcher and then we document their goals for the year around it. You can see what you've inspired here: http://crayonwishesandpopsicledreams.com/kids-goals-for-the-new-year/ Thanks again for the inspiration!!
