Mini Golf Madness

We haven't finished our entire Summer To-Do List yet so we are still trying to squeeze in a few things here and there. This past weekend we spent a morning on the mini golf course and Maddie had a great time!

I spy someone cheating!

She would hit the ball and then go pick it up and move it to the edge of the cup every time!

I believe that's called high sticking.... maybe the wrong sport though.....

Cheating in action!

Look there's me!

Pink ball in the water hazard- as expected. Only once though, so not too bad for her first time!

Our little family.

No clue who won. Daddy has horrible hand writing!

We finished up the morning with a bucket of balls on the driving range for daddy- Maddie got to hit a few too!

A Day At The Zoo

After a week full of late nights, lots of boxes and way too much packing paper we decided to have a little family fun.

As soon as we found out we were moving to Virginia I told Brandon we would be getting a membership to the zoo, no question about it. We are lucky enough to have a fantastic zoo about 10 minutes from our house and I am sure Maddie and I will be there often!

Despite the quickly warming weather {who knew it was so hot down here!} we had a fantastic time visiting the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk.

See that mermaid with a missing a hand? Yeah there are a TON of them down here. Over 130 to be sorta exact! Expect a few mermaid posts in the new few months, we have set a personal goal of finding each and everyone while we are living here!

Did you spy that lion head peeking out next to Mad in the bottom picture? No I am not a horrible mother that threw her kid in the lion exhibit, there is a piece of glass! But we were super duper close!

It was nap time for most of the animals while we were visiting but the meerkats and prairie dogs were busy!

I couldn't help but get a little click crazy with all the beautiful flowers in bloom!

We finished off our quick trip to the zoo with a little splash time in the water exhibit!

Some More S'Mores Please!

Okay, okay! I know I said I was done posting until we arrived in Virginia but of course I can't stay away.

We had a wonderful evening with the parental units last night and I took some wonderful pictures so here I am!

A game of marbles anyone?

What about S'MORES? Madison refused to eat s'mores last year but certainly enjoyed them this year! And what's better than a s'more? A super awesome hubby who roasts all the marshmallows for you! Yeah I know I am super lucky to have one of those! hehe

And of course the customary glow sticks!

The Ice Cream Truck!

You would think that because we live in military housing we would see the ice cream truck All. The. Time. But no. Never.

Don't we teach our kids NOT to run to the scary white van giving away treats?

That was until this past week and we were sitting down for dinner. The ice cream truck not only finally drove past our house but decided dinner time was the perfect time to park in front of our house.

Do you not have bottle of glue on your dinner table? huh. Just us I guess.

Not willing to miss him we grabbed cash and ran out the door leaving our dinner behind. Hey, we HAD to mark it off our Summer To Do list!

Of course I had to be mommy and demand that the ice cream went into the freezer until after dinner.

Maddie didn't mind waiting though and it was that extra little push that got her to eat her green beans too!

Red, White and Blueberries

We finally got a bit of a break in the epic heat wave we have been having in Connecticut {did I mention I am not leaving our air conditioned home in Virginia until October?} and it was just in time to go blueberry picking. Oddly enough I don't think I have brought Mad picking since our first summer in Connecticut so she was more than due for a little blueberry fun!

Lots o' blueberries

I am getting better at taking pictures! I love this one!

Manual labor builds character.... right?

Is this a big guy mom?

Don't kneel in the blueberry fields!

She kneeled in the blueberry fields.

Splash Park

We had fun knocking another to-do off of our Summer list this week with a trip to the local splash park. We brought some friends along this time too! Maddie had a ball and I had a chance to play with the black and white setting on my camera!

Strawberries and Submarines

We had big plans for this weekend but unfortunately the weather was less than cooperative. Blerg. Madison has been waiting, and waiting, and WAITING for the Strawberry Festival to come and of course it rained!

We still managed to have a little bit of fun though. Madison enjoyed her first pony ride

and of course she had her much anticipated strawberry sundae!

The downpour didn't come until we were safely in the car with a big bag of kettle corn for the ride home.

Not willing to call it a day yet we set off for the USS Nautilus which happens to be right down the street from our house.

Madison enjoyed wandering around looking at the exhibits and it was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Even better.... we were able to cross TWO things off of our summer to do list!

Summer To Do's

Everyone in the bloggy world seems to be making a Summer To Do list and we certainly couldn't be left out of the fun! So while cooking dinner this week we grabbed a piece of card stock, Maddie's new markers and set to work.

Lots of fun little weekend activities made to the list with just a few big ones.

We tried to keep the list rather do-able this summer due to that one BIG thing we have to do!

Of course we have another special day on the list too!
