Getting Organized

Maddie starts school next week (YIKES!) and our calendar lately has been getting full. Between doctors appointment for myself and Zoey, school activities for Maddie and work functions for Brandon there is just too much stuff. I have tried a few different calendar styles in the past but nothing really works so I decided to try my hand at designing something that would work well for us.

Enter in custom vinyl by Vinyl Express on Etsy. With just a few e-mails I was able to have exactly what I wanted designed. Yippppeee!

My wonderful husband picked me up a GIANT piece of MDF and then used his new router to make it look all pretty for me. I slapped a few coats of chalkboard paint on that baby and the magic began. The vinyl from Vinyl Express was super easy to apply and I am in love with the results!

I now have a giant chalkboard wall dedicated to all of our family stuff.

I love, love, LOVE the menu section to the calendar! I am obsessed with planning out our meals so it will definitely come in handy!

There is plenty of room below the calendar portion to write any extra necessary notes- like a running grocery list. I also added our initials to the bottom of the board so I can write any upcoming appointments or important notes by our initials.

Instead of regular chalk I have been using these Bistro Chalk Markers that I am loving so far!

Hopefully this new setup helps us stay organized!

I love this! WE just have a dry erase board in our kitchen, not nearly as cool as your board!

I use those markers on my refrigerator chalkboard, and they are the ONLY ones that don't leave a shadowy mark afterwards - LOVE them (but be warned if you want more colors and venture out, I'd hate for your awesome new board to get ruined! I now have a permanent quote on my chalkboard that even their specially made chalkboard cleaners won't remove! The staining set I used was this one: :)
