Card Carrying Member

I knew that when Maddie was old enough to get her own library card that we would definitely make a big deal out of it. What a surprise when we found our new local library and discovered there was no age limit to get a library card! Maddie was super excited to be a card carrying member of the library and in celebration I made her a super cute tote bag and library card holder.

Let me say me and my darling sewing machine have quite the love-hate relationship going on. Things can be stitching along smoothly and I can whip out a project in no time and then bad things happen. I don't know why but they do. This time it started with my thread snapping over and over and over again. Insert frustration now. Then the nesting began. Goodness gracious oh how I hate the nesting. It is horrible and I have no clue why it happens but once in awhile it does and it makes me furious. So upset that my hubby tells me to take a deep breath and chill. I know I have issues.

Well this project lead to a LOT of deep breaths. When it was finally finished I was thrilled. I love it. I really do but don't ask me to make another one. I may weep if I have to.

Oh, it is ADORABLE (even if it was a pain!). Ha! Every single time I see you make something, I SO want to learn to sew but I have THE most fickle machine in the world (aka: oldest and cheapest, probably).

But, you always have cute fabrics and find the most adorable fabric!

You're full of super fun ideas. I need to make time for them all. This is really cute, and useful! Can't wait to craft it :o)

My sewing machine does the exact same thing sometimes...and usually when I only have like 5 inches left to sew!! Your bag turned out really cute! I love all the fabrics you used!

So cute! This was worth the frustration!! I can remember my mom getting so frustrated with her machine that she'd throw what she was working on across the room. She always figured it out in the end.

Super cute! How do you make ruffles? I'm really new to sewing but like to make things for my kids and myself.

I am SO in love with the idea of attaching the library card TO the bag so she won't lose it also! What a spectacular idea!
And congrats to your daughter for getting her first library card! That is so exciting!
I hope you don't mind, I just had to gush about your project on my blog! Thanks!

oh and i forgot, my thread used to break a lot too, but a friend of mine helped me out, maybe this will help you too!
Make sure you are using the RIGHT THREAD, some threads don't work well with simple projects
I LOVE Gutermann every use thread! It's 100% polyester and I have NEVER had an issue with it breaking! It IS a little more expensive but it has COMPLETELY eliminated my thread breaking tantrums, so I hope it will help you too! :-)
Good luck, you make some CUTE things!

Wow, do I love this! The ruffle, the letters...as a girl who *very* often frequents the library, I might try my hand at a bag like that. ;)
